Jon Peck

I am a Principal Software Engineer and Technical Advisor at SPSS. I joined the company in 1983 and worked on many aspects of the very first SPSS DOS product, including writing the first C code that SPSS ever shipped. I have been very involved with user interface design, statistics, internationalization and localization and other aspects of the SPSS product line. Among the features I have designed are OMS (the Output Management System), the Visual Bander, Define Variable Properties, ALTER TYPE, Unicode support, and the Date and Time Wizard. I collaborated heavily on the Custom Tables CTABLES procedure and its user interface.

I earned my Ph. D. from Yale University and taught econometrics and statistics there for 13 years before joining SPSS.

For the last few years I have been heavily involved with programmability and scripting in the SPSS product. I divide my time now between design and development work, teaching and evangelizing, and working with users. I am the author of many of the modules on Developer Central.
